Tesla Motors history
The company name was inspired by the great Serbian scientist Nikola Tesla. The company was founded in 2003 by Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning, who had been behind the creation of the company NuvoMedia in 1997, which was acquired in 2000 by Gemstar-TV Guide International in the group of Ruppert Murdoch for sum of 187 million.
