Saab logo history

The logo of this SAAB depicts a mythological bird which is also used on the official coat of arms of the Count von Skane. The symbol was used as the symbol for the Swedish province Skane, where the SAAB company was formed.

Saab is the name of an aircraft and a Swedish automobile manufacturer. This name is an acronym for Svenska Aeroplan AB (AB for bolaget Aktie) which can be translated as "Swedish Airplanes SA.

Saab AB and Saab Automobile AB in the twenty-first century are two distinct but with a common history. Saab Automobile AB is a car manufacturer, a former subsidiary of General Motors is since June 2009 the subsidiary of the Swedish Koenigsegg. Saab AB, meanwhile, has its main activities in the field of defense, aviation and civil security.
